Sympathetic use of
traditional materials.

Situated in The Park, Nottingham, this project required structural building skills as well as TLC. We were rewarded with a coveted Marshalls Award for the Midlands Best Engineering in 2020.

We regularly work in The Park and several limitations are imposed by working here. Most of the properties are Grade 2 listed and the sites are usually steeply sloped so often need structural improvements. This beautiful period property is also a listed building in a conservation area, however, their outdoor space was badly neglected during the modernisation of the property, demanding sympathetic improvements.

The brief required a full makeover of all outdoor spaces and our design required many practical considerations, such as making a steep slope accessible. With sympathetic use of modern materials, we were able to transform this back into a lovely garden that had off street parking, a modern garden studio and beautiful planting. All work was undertaken using our own skilled staff.

The transformation made a totally unusable space a practical delight, and the most important award was the customers’ huge appreciation of our efforts.

“The clients remit was to sympathetically restore this lovely old property into a modern desirable space. Our design showed how practical it would be to transform a steep sloping garden to allow for off street parking, a garden studio and plenty of space to entertain with good access to all points of the garden.

This project won a Best Engineering Award in 2019 at the Marshalls Awards.”
